Mama D's But First Some Whiskey

Ryan and I decided to try out the famous Mama D's restaurant in Newport Beach. It's Aunt Wendy's favorite so we needed to experience it for ourselves. As predicted, the wait time was an hour...Ryan described it perfectly it's the Italian Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. To pass the time, we walked directly across the street to Marlarkey's Irish Pub. Now when I say across the street, the pub is directly across but it being Newport it takes you ten minutes to walk across the street because of the traffic signals! But no worries we made it over there and I was excited to test out the new CA driver's license......unfortunately as we approached and I had it in hand....the bouncer simply opened the door and said "enjoy". Oh dang, I guess we look 22 now, no more ID checks.

So what will we have....I knew exactly what I wanted. Whiskey neat. Ryan recommended I try NobHill and he had a glass of Highland Park 12. As we sat there sipping on our delicious drinks, we joined in the singing of Piano Man and of course Sweet Caroline. The time passed quickly as we enjoyed talking to each other sitting in our bar stools at this pretty cool little Irish Pub.

Before we knew it we were back over at Mama D's and our table was called about two minutes after taking a seat out front. What you need to know about this place is that hospitality is #1 here. Ever single employee that we walked by as we escorted to our table was thanking us for waiting and wishing us a wonderful experience. The food was delicious - all very fresh and flavorful - I would rate it in the top ten. Although it turns out they add sausage to their lasagna and I'm not a fan. But the experience was wonderful as promised.

To top it off the give you these little tiny chocolate chip cookies. So good and just the right size.

Price: Reasonably Priced especially for the great taste, fun environment and large portion size!
